The Skoda Kodiaq will be launched in the Indian market tomorrow. This is the Czech automaker’s new premium SUV and will be sold alongside the Superb sedan. We have already gotten behind the wheel of the India spec car and you can find our first impression here or in the reviews section of our mobile app.
Firstly, powering the India spec Skoda Kodiaq is a 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 150bhp/340Nm. The only gearbox option for the Indian market is a seven-speed DSG and AWD, of which the latter is only expected to be offered on top spec variants.
On the outside, the Kodiaq get Skoda’s latest design philosophy. The face is dominated by the signature Skoda moustache grille and head lamps. At 4.6-meters, the Kodiaq is pretty big with large over hangs at both ends. Finally, the rear gets that wedge-like C-shaped tail lamps and stacked design.
Inside, its standard Skoda fare and at first glance, it gives out the impression that one is looking at a scaled up version of the Superb’s cabin. Standard features include climate control, touchscreen infotainment system, three rows of leather upholstered seats and plenty of storage spaces all around.
The Kodiaq is Skoda’s rival for the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Isuzu MU-X and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. We believe that Skoda will price the Kodiaq in the price range of Rs 30 lakhs to Rs 35 lakhs.
