Ahead of its official world premiere in September this year, Skoda has issued a series of sketches of its upcoming Kodiaq SUV. The seven-seat SUV was spotted on test last month, but this time around, the sketches of the car has been released by the Skoda design boss Jozef Kaban. Based on what can be seen, the SUV gets sharp and bold aesthetics that defines its new design language.
The front gets flat raked headlamp that compliments the wide grille. The SUV with a long wheelbase might offer extra interior space for occupants. The two seats in the third row will be offered as option. As for the rear, the SUV gets C-shaped LED rear lights. Based on the test mule which was spotted earlier, the interior is likely to get a neat finish and feature four large air vents. The test mule featured a large display that splits the three-dimensional instrument panel into two equal sections for the driver as well as the passenger. It is believed that apart from comfort aspect, the interior will also focus on functionality.
Speaking about the Kodiaq, Jozef Kaban said, “The Kodiaq is extremely versatile. It is robust, suits all types of terrain and offers the best flexibility and functionality. We wanted to visualise this in the exterior design as well as the interior. The crystalline and striking appearance also underlines the strength and character of the Skoda Kodiaq."
Post launch, the Skoda Kodiaq is expected to rival against the likes of Land Rover’s Discovery Sport. In India, it might be introduced via the CKD route sometime around the last quarter of 2017.
