Skoda India has launched the Kodiaq Scout, priced at Rs 33.99 lakhs (ex-showroom India). For the uninitiated, the Kodiaq Scout is an off-road spec version of the regular model. It comes with various enhancements to its exteriors, interiors as well as mechanicals, to better its off-road capabilities.
On the exteriors front, the Skoda Kodiaq Scout gets redesigned front and rear bumpers that feature aggressive skid plates. The revised bodywork has resulted in better approach and departure angles of 22.0 degrees and 23.1 degrees, respectively.
Further, the ground clearance has been improved by 6mm, and now stands at 194mm.
Cosmetic changes include chrome embellishments on the grille, mirrors and roof rails. Additionally, it also comes shod with new 18-inch alloy wheels that get a dual-tone finish. Inside, the Kodiaq Scout gets all-black interiors to withstand the off-road abuse. Moreover, the interiors also get the ‘Scout’ badging on the seats and the dashboard.
Mechanically, the Kodiaq Scout will come equipped with an off-road-specific all-wheel-drive system along with an ‘Off-Road’ drive mode. This mode improves the throttle response and alters the damping parameters to better suit the vehicle’s dynamics during off-road trails. Moreover, it also gets full underbody protection for added safety.
Under the hood, the Skoda Kodiaq Scout is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that makes 148bhp and 340Nm. A seven-speed DSG gearbox transfers the power to all four wheels. The Kodiaq Scout gets a dedicated tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). However, it misses out on a 360-degree surround-view camera system and the virtual cockpit instrument cluster.
