- The L&K trim is the top-spec variant in Skoda’s line-up.
- Was showcased at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.
- Expected to be priced around Rs 35-38 lakhs.
Skoda will be extending the Kodiaq’s portfolio in India with the introduction of the L&K variant this December. This L&K trim is named after the company's founders Václav Laurin and Václav Klement. The Laurin & Klement badged vehicles have been the most sought-after variants from the Czech carmaker. The L&K treatment to the flagship SUV adds cosmetic upgrades along with additional comfort features.
The top-spec variant will come with cosmetic upgrades which will include a chrome treatment on the moustache grille, tweaked rear bumpers with chrome exhaust tips and stylish 19-inch Sirius wheels. The L&K trim will also get full-LED headlights as standard. The iconic ‘Laurin & Klement’ badges on the front fenders of the SUV are a giveaway to the fact that this is not your ordinary Skoda.
On the inside, the cabin will get a leather-wrap on the steering wheel. The standard equipment will include electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory function, door sills with Kodiaq insignia, aluminium foot pedals, textile floor mats, rain sensors, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, 10 shaded of ambient lighting and the 550 Watt 10 speaker Canton sound system. A Laurin & Klement logo will be present on the seats as well as on the instrument panel.
Internationally, the Kodiaq L&K is offered with four engine options. But in India, we expect the same diesel 2.0-litre TDI producing 150bhp but with both manual and automatic transmission. The SUV comes with a 4x4 layout which will get Adaptive Chassis Control as an option in the L&K guise.
The Mladá Boleslav-based carmaker is bringing in the top-spec Kodiaq to India due to the fact that the SUV has garnered a good response in the Indian market. And also because of the affinity of Indian car buyers to the L&K badges on the older Skodas. It is expected to be pricier than the single Style variant sold in the country. We expect the price tag to be around Rs 35-38 lakhs when it is launched next month.
