The Czech car manufacturer Skoda had first unveiled the Kodiaq at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. This time around, reports indicate that the all-new Skoda Kodiaq will be unveiled in India on 10 August. For a while now, Skoda dealers have also been accepting bookings for the vehicle. The Kodiaq is based on the Volkswagen's MQB platform, which is also used in the Superb and Octavia in India.
Skoda Kodiaq is available in one petrol and two diesel engine iterations. The petrol version gets a 2.0 litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates 177bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. The diesel version gets a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine in two tunes – 147bhp with 340Nm of torque and 187bhp with 400Nm of torque. The engines will be available in six-Speed Manual gearbox or DSG transmissions with six-speed or seven-speed options.
In terms of design, the Kodiaq gets three-dimensional radiator grille, raked headlights with full-LED technology and LED tail lamps. Inside, along with premium upholstery and other features, the vehicle also gets touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone automatic climate control, engine start/stop function and electric driver seat. As for safety, the Kodiaq will get six airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD).
Post launch, the Kodiaq SUV will compete against the likes of Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner in India. The Kodiaq SUV is expected to be priced around Rs 30 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
