The Skoda Kodiaq was spotted on the busy streets of Pune without a camouflage. This is a new SUV from the Czech automaker and will be positioned above the Superb sedan.
The Kodiaq, as we know, has already gone live on Skoda’s Indian website and will be a flagship product from the manufacturer. Being 4.6-metres long, the new SUV will feature a seven-seat setup for the Indian market. The SUV is expected to debut with the same drive train as the Skoda Superb – a 2.0-litre diesel engine and 1.8-litre petrol engine. The former produces 177bhp and the latter one produces 174bhp. The diesel variant is likely to be mated to a six-speed DSG gearbox and the petrol variant is speculated to be mated with a seven-speed DSG gearbox. The manufacturer could also offer an all-wheel drive system in the top trim.
The Kodiaq is based on the MQB platform found in most Audis, VW Tiguan, Skoda Superb and Octavia. The Kodiaq will be produced at Skoda’s production facility in Aurangabad and is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 25 lakhs to Rs 32 lakhs.
After its launch, the Skoda Kodiaq will compete against the likes of Isuzu MU-X, Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe , Ford Endeavour and the Mitsubishi Pajero.
