The upcoming Skoda Kodiaq has gone live on the automaker’s Indian website. This is a new SUV from the Czech automaker and will be positioned above the Skoda Superb sedan. It was showcased as the Vision S concept in early 2016 and in the latter half of last year unveiled in production form as the Kodiaq.
This will be the new flagship for the automaker and at 4.6-metres will be offered in a seven-seat setup for the Indian market. The SUV is expected to debut with the same 2.0-litre diesel that powers the Volkswagen Tiguan. It produces 147bhp and around 300Nm of torque. Given its price positioning, we believe that it will only be offered with a seven-speed DSG. It is also expected to be heavy on features of which the list is expected to include a touchscreen infotainment system, multi-zone climate control, electrically adjustable front seats and a minimum of six airbags for all variants.
The Kodiaq is based on the MQB platform found in all the Audis, VW Tiguan, Skoda Superb and Octavia. This SUV will be produced at their plant in Aurangabad and is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 25 lakh to Rs 32 lakh and will take on the likes of the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the soon-to-be-launched Isuzu MU-X.
