Skoda has released teaser images of its upcoming compact SUV, the Karoq. The company has planned for an official reveal later this month.
Based on Skoda’s new emotive and dynamic design language, the Karoq gets a proper SUV style design, unlike the outgoing model, the Yeti. This five-seater SUV also borrows some features from the Kodiaq which sits at the top of Skoda’s line-up. The Karoq is equipped with optional LED headlamps and standard LED tail lamps.
The Skoda Karoq is powered by an entry-level 1.0-litre TSI three-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.5-litre TSI motor that features an active cylinder technology. There’s also a new diesel 1.6-litre TDI engine and a new 2.0-litre TDI motor. This compact SUV will be offered with two and four-wheel drive options. The customers also have the option to choose from a six-speed manual gearbox and a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. The top-end models will get driving modes like normal, eco, sport, individual and snow.
This Skoda is 4382mm long, 1841mm wide and 1605mm high. The boot of the Karoq has a capacity of 521 litres which can be increased to 1630 litres with the rear seats folded down. There are also VarioFlex rear seats that give the flexibility of converting boot space from 479 litres to 588 litres.
Skoda India hasn’t talked about the Karoq making its way to India. For now, the company is busy with the Kodiaq launch which should happen in the next few weeks.
