Skoda will launch a crossover under the Karoq as a part of its SUV offensive for the next five years. Rumours of such a vehicle have been abound for a long time, but now leaked images confirm that this crossover will be called the Kamiq.
The spy source says that the Kamiq measure in at 4.3-meters and has a wheelbase of 2610-meters putting it in contention with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and Renault Duster. In the Skoda hierarchy, it will be the SUV to the Fabia and Rapid as the Karoq is the SUV to the Octavia.
The car will make a public debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April before being launched for market sales in June. The Chinese market will get the car with a 1.5-litre petrol motor producing 110bhp. This engine is likely to be offered with both manual and automatic options.
The Kamiq will come to India albeit in a highly localised form to match its position in the market. It is expected to share much of its underpinnings and engine options with the Polo based T-Cross SUV. Â
