This can only be deemed as good news for the fans of the old Octavia vRS, it's coming back! Skoda India is preparing to rekindle the magic with its modern day equivalent – the latest-gen Octavia vRS. Now although the latter is available globally in both petrol and diesel trim, Skoda India is expected to introduce the petrol-powered Octavia vRS as their halo offering.
Being the hot version of the regular Octavia, the vRS model looks the part, with its more aggressive bumper, bigger wheels and a spoiler. Inside, occupants will be treated with sporty front seats, contrasting stitching for the leather bits and possibly a sportier steering wheel.
The vRS is all about the drivetrain and in the petrol-powered model you will find a 2-litre turbocharged petrol motor with 220bhp of power, allowing this family sedan to accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 6.8 seconds. The diesel model, on the other hand, also gets a 2-litre diesel motor but with 184bhp of power and lots of torque. The latter is not likely to come to the Indian market. As for the gearbox options, the car will come with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DSG automatic.
Given that the Laura vRS, launched years ago, was heavily toned down compared to its European counterparts, we can expect more or less the same treatment for the upcoming India-spec Octavia vRS. Nonetheless, what’s certain though is that there will be plenty of takers among the rising number of enthusiasts for the upcoming Octavia vRS.
