Skoda UK has announced the prices for the Octavia vRS prior to its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The car has been priced at 22,900 GBP (Rs 20.65 lakh) and will be on sale from August this year. The Czech automaker had been previewing the car through various teasers and then finally unveiled on their global website last month.
Dubbed as Skoda’s fastest car from the Octavia family, the vRS is available with two mighty engine options. A 2.0-litre TSI that makes 220bhp and 350Nm of torque and a 2.0-litre TDI that develops 185PS of power. The vRS features a sport-tuned suspension, a revised steering system and an XDS electronically-locking front differential all of which add up to a more agile ride and handling.
On the styling front, the Octavia vRS gets an aggressive new bumper with DRLs and a honeycomb grille. The model also has bi-xenon headlights, a dual exhaust system and 18-inch alloy wheels. On the inside, the cabin comes equipped with sports-style bucket seats, a three-spoke steering wheel and ambient lighting. Dual-zone climate control and a touchscreen infotainment system also come as standard in the vRS.
The standard Octavia is expected to be in India by September and the vRS by the middle of next year. Skoda did introduce the RS variants for the last generation Octavia and the Laura and if the trend continues, the new Octavia vRS can definitely be the next affordable sports car in India.
