The current generation of the Hyundai Elantra first arrived in 2010. Since then, the popular D-segment car has made its way into a number of markets worldwide and done rather well. Now, as the vehicle marks its fifth year of existence, Hyundai is starting to prepare the sixth-generation model which could mark its arrival in the next couple of years.
Codenamed AD, the sixth-generation model of the Elantra will be conceived using Hyundai’s latest Fluidic design philosophy. Going by the newest versions of the i20 and the upcoming Verna, one can expect the new Elantra to boast of an angular yet appealing design.
Mechanically, the car will continue to be offered in petrol and turbo diesel engines. Furthermore, Hyundai is also contemplating a hybrid model later on in the vehicle’s lifecycle.
The sixth-generation Elantra will first arrive in Korea early next year, followed by a few other markets including India where we can expect a late 2016 launch.
