Following the footsteps of its smaller sibling, the 2014 i10/Grand i10, the next generation Hyundai i20 will be unveiled at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. We have already seen the car testing on multiple occasions across Europe and in South India. It is now common knowledge that the new B-Segment hatchback will embody the fluidic design philosophy and will in all probability look like a stretched out version of the Grand i10.
The i20 is one of the most feature loaded vehicles in this segment and we expect that the new car will continue this trend. Spy shots have already revealed that the new car will get black and blue two-tone interiors.
On the engine front, Hyundai is expected to continue with the 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.4-litre diesel along with a five-speed manual/four-speed auto for the petrol as well as a six-speed manual for the diesel.
It will be launched in India a few weeks after its official European unveiling and is likely to be priced slightly higher than the current car. When launched, the i20 will compete with the VW Polo, Nissan Micra, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Chevrolet Sail hatchback and the Honda Brio.
Hyundai has also said that the i20 will spawn a high performance variant which will be launched under a new ‘N’ moniker sometime in 2015.
