The second generation of the BMW X6 has been introduced in Australia with prices starting at 115,400 AUD (Rs 59.86 lakh) for the entry-level version. This new model represents what BMW calls a Sports Activity Vehicle, thanks to the car’s couple-like profile and sporty on-road dynamics.
BMW will offer the new X6 in a total of three variants: xDrive30d, xDrive50i and the range-topping M50d powered by a tri-turbo diesel engine. According to a few reports, the range-starting petrol-powered xDrive35i and the xDrive40d will arrive early next year.
Irrespective of the variants, all X6 versions will feature BMW’s 8-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifts and all-wheel drive as standard. The new X6 will take on the Mercedes-Benz GLE which recently made its world debut.
Given how popular the outgoing X6 has been among Indian luxury car buyers, BMW will be looking to launch the second-generation X6 sooner than anticipated. Expect the new X6 to be launched sometime early next year in xDrive30d and xDrive50i variants.
