American boutique car maker and motorsport team, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus (SCG), have teased their second model. A couple of images teasing the nose of the second model was posted on the carmaker’s Facebook page. The new model will join the SCG003 supercar and probably make its way to the SCG’s motorsport business as well.
Talking about the new model, SCG has suggested that the second model would be a very lightweight sports car. The fully-carbon body and chassis are obvious indicators of the lightweight. The new car will be powered a ‘high revving’ engine with around 600 horsepower mated to a gated six-speed manual transmission. The new model won’t use the same powertrain as the 003. We expect the motor to be a turbocharged rather than a naturally aspirated unit. Interestingly, it will be a three-seater joining the league of upcoming McLaren BP23. And the price is expected to be somewhere around 400,000 dollars. However, Glickenhaus is open to public suggestions on what the new car should be like.
SCG stunned the world when they took the wraps off the 003 back in 2013. The supercar was a racecar for the road and won laurels in the 24 Hours of Nurburgring and various VLN Nürburgring races. Now that the development of the SCG003 is complete and customer orders are fulfilled, SCG has shifted focus to the new model. This new car will be a simpler, smaller and a more accessible sports car. However, it would still boast of the racing heritage and could be tuned for motorsport. But it would focus on categories like GTE, GT Le Mans and GT4 apart from the usual GT3 and SPX categories of the VLN race series.
There is no timeline yet of when the new model will arrive. Given the open suggestion approach, the new model is still in the very early stages of development.
