Volvo brought their all-new flagship SUV, the XC90, to India earlier this year. The XC90 has turned out to be a success for the Swedish car maker owing to its modern design, fresh looks and excellent price tag. After the launch of the top-spec T8 hybrid, Volvo is readying itself to bring the XC90 R-Design to India next month.
The R-Design XC90 will get a new and more aggressive front bumper and a new grille. The R-Design grille gets horizontal slats while the lip spoiler on the air-dam becomes more prominent. It also gets intelligent all LED headlamps. The R-Design car will get the beautiful 20-inch five-spoke alloy wheels with wider tyres. The rear bumper also gets a sporty treatment and twin exhausts. The wing mirrors are highlighted in silver aluminium finish.
R-design illuminated tread plates will usher you into the all-black cabin. The wooden inlays will make way for the sporty carbon-fibre finish inlays. You will have R-design inscribed on the Nappa leather bucket seats that seem to come straight out of a sportscar. The ambient lighting in the cabin can be adjusted as per preference. It gets a 12inch touch-screen display, larger than the Standard XC90 along with the Bower and Wilkins audio system.
Volvo may offer the R-Design in its two signature colours – Passion Red and Bursting Blue. The XC90 R-Design will be positioned above the Inscription Luxury trim but below the fully loaded Excellence T8. It will be powered by the 225bhp of power and 470Nm of torque 2.0-litre four cylinder D5 diesel engine paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
As the deliveries of the T8 hybrid will also commence from December, Volvo is mulling the introduction of petrol engines to its flagship SUV. We expect the XC90 to get the 245bhp T5 2.0-litre petrol engine that also comes with an eight-speed automatic and four-wheel drive.
