Tata will launch the facelifted Nano within the next ten days. CarWale’s sourced have confirmed the development and added that the low cost vehicle is also scheduled two for more rounds of updates that will take place within the next few months.
We believe that these updates will be a CNG compatible engine, option of power steering as well as making standard features from the special edition Nano that was launched last year. The special edition Nano had features like dual glove boxes and a USB compatible music system.
The facelifted Nano has already been spotted on two separate occasions. The first was during the shoot for its TV commercial and second one during a test run in Pune. It features cosmetic changes as well as mechanical changes. The facelifted Tata Nano is very similar to the current model from the front, but now features a large chrome strip running across the bonnet in a bid to give the car an upmarket feel. The rear end too gets a large chrome strip just above the bumper and it is likely that the hatch will be openable but only via an internal release mechanism.
The pictures also show that an additional air intake on the rear bumper for increased cooling. The interiors of the Nano have not changed much and still retain the same overall design including the centrally mounted instrument cluster. However, the biggest addition to the Tata Nano is that it will eventually get a diesel engine. This is a Honeywell sourced 800cc turbocharged mill that produces 45PS. We have also revealed to you exclusively that the Nano diesel will go into production in February 2014.
The facelifted Nano is expected to boost volumes for the compact hatchback that has been seeing a rapid decline in numbers over the last few months.
