We recently spotted a car on the Pune highway which looked more so like any of the Tata passenger vehicles which do their rounds here. But when we took a closer look at it, there were two things that got us thinking. The first being the strong character line on the door of the car which extends right to the rear and the second being that the badges on the car were covered. This was not a Tata but a Mahindra vehicle and a Passenger vehicle to be precise.
Based on the Mahindra Maxximo, the Passenger Vehicle will be a 7-seater and will be powered by a 2-cylinder engine with 24 bhp. It will compete with the Tata Magic and will be launched this year. A people mover, the Maxximo Passenger vehicle will be priced close to 3 lakhs. Mahindra's interest in this segment comes after the company invested Rs. 300 crore last year in its Chakan plant and its plans to expand the capacity at the plant are just infant steps to this project.
