- To be launched in India on 3 October
- Will arrive alongside the Carnival
Fully-loaded variant
The Kia EV9 will be launched in India on October 3 and will be the first electric three-row vehicle for the Indian market. Ahead of the SUV's arrival, CarWale has learned that it will first be offered as one fully-loaded GT-Line AWD model at the time of launch.
GT-Line AWD
The GT-Line AWD is the most expensive EV9 that you can buy with almost every bell and whistle that Kia has in its arsenal for the EV9. On the outside, the GT-Line package gets different bumpers, 21-inch GT-Line wheels and of course GT-Line badging at the rear.
This version is available with six-seat and seven-seat layouts though we only expect the former for India. It has features like all electric seats, lounge function for the second row, multi-zone climate control, ventilated seats for the second row, 360-degree camera, level-2 ADAS, auto parking, connected car technology, power boot opening and a full LED light package. In its home market, the interior can be trimmed out in black over white, navy blue with black and brown with black.
Powertrain and range
The EV9 in this AWD guise is equipped with a 99.9kWh battery pack and dual motors producing 379bhp and 700Nm. It has a claimed range of 445km, a 0-100kmph time of 5.3 seconds with a top speed of 200kmph. These are pretty impressive numbers for something that’s expected to weigh well over 2000kgs. When using a 350kWh charger, the battery pack can go from 10-80 per cent in 24 minutes. We expect Kia to provide a home wallbox charger as part of the package when the car is launched in India.
Top-spec makes sense
The car is expected to cost anywhere between Rs. 90 lakh to Rs 1.2 crore making it the most expensive Kia to be launched in India. Some of this is because it will be a CBU while the rest would justify the top-spec fully-loaded model. Making this a fully loaded car will also set expectations for the electric Carens that will be launched in the first half of CY2025.
