Saurav Bandhyopadhay from Thane, Maharashtra wins the inaugural round two race of the Ameo Cup 2018 with a total time of 15:49.436. The premium one-make series is organised by Volkswagen Motorsport India at the Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai. Anmol Singh Sahil from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh has claimed the second position with a total time of 15:54.147, while the third position has been earned by Dhruv Mohite from Kolhapur, Maharashtra with a total time of 5:54.203.
Interestingly, Dhruv Mohite was the fastest during qualifying on Friday and started the race on pole and was accompanied by Saurav Bandyopadhayon the first row. Saurav was followed by Anmol Singh (Gaziabad) and Shubomoy Ball (Bangalore) on the second row. In today’s race, Saurav took off with a perfect start off the line and overtook Dhruv in the very first lap. He managed to stay focused for the rest of the race taking maximum points. Behind the front row the action was even more intense with Shubhomoy getting a better start to Anmol. However, Anmol managed to regain his position on lap two, and finished the race in second position overtaking Dhruv on the last lap of the race.
Speaking on the occasion, Sirish Vissa, Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India, commenting on the second round of the Ameo Cup 2018 season said, “The first race was action-packed with a lot of overtaking manoeuvres across the field. While the conditions today did not make it any easier on the cars or the drivers, I am glad the performance of the car and the focus of the drivers remained high. Today’s race gave the drivers a glimpse into the next 5 races that will be held in Chennai under similar conditions.”
