Luca Rossetti and Matteo Chiarcossi, in a Grande Punto Abarth S2000, finished third at the 45th Rally del Friuli e delle Alpi Orientali, Round Seven of the Italian Rally Championship.
Extremely changeable weather conditions hampered the Abarth driver's final result after he finished the first leg in the lead. Intermittent rain falls made tyre choice difficult, since sections under heavy showers alternated with others which were almost dry. A spin in the first stage of the day made Rossetti drop back and he then only had to try and keep his third place.
Youngster Umberto Scandola, alongside co-driver Guido D’Amore, was doing well too. He was fourth after the penultimate stage but had to stop after he hit something in the very last timed section.
The next round of the Italian Rally Championship is the Rally Costa Smeralda in Sardinia on 12-13 September.
