A few days ago, a heavily cladded Rolls-Royce Cullinan was found cold weather testing in Lapland, Finland. Tagging along was a Range Rover which was obviously meant for benchmarking purposes.
Rolls-Royce’s upcoming SUV has the brand’s traditional grille adorning the tall chiselled bonnet, along with the familiar slim rectangular headlamps. The unmistakable boxy stance is thanks to the edgy hood and a rather tall/upright C-pillar. Which, of course, also translates into a large cabin that will have the extravagance of ‘Coach’ doors.
Sources claimed to have spied the interiors too and they added that the cabin layout, along with the large centrally positioned infotainment system, is quite similar to the brand’s Phantom. Plus, it’s a given that customers will be able to choose from a variety of trim options. Since the Cullinan will ride on the same platform that the Phantom is based on, reports confirm that it will be powered by the same 6.75-litre V12 twin-turbo motor. In all likeliness, this SUV have all-wheel drive capability, but don’t expect it to be an off-roading beast.
Despite Rolls-Royce being tight-lipped on when its SUV will be showcased, rumours state that the Cullinan could debut later this year before it probably goes on sale in early 2019. Stay tuned for more information.
