The Rolls-Royce is a name that warrants attention and its products command reverence. While smoothness and silence is already embodied in the company’s cars and engines, power was lacking in certain cases. Not anymore. Rolls-Royce has prepared a V-Spec version of the Ghost which comes with various upgrades, including a power boost.
The V-Spec version follows in the footsteps of the Rolls-Royce Wraith, its most powerful production car, which was released last year. While the company is known for making car-driving a luxurious experience, it is, now, also focusing on performance. Previously Rolls-Royce owners or fans could only avail of a 6.6-litre Twin-Turbo V12 producing 570bhp, the engine was torquey as ever but, because it’s a Rolls Royce, it weighed too much to reflect speed. Nevertheless, sprinting from 0-60mph took 4.7 seconds which was not something to boast about.
In the new Ghost V-Spec, power comes from the same V12 6.6-litre twin-turbocharged engine but instead of the series 570bhp it now develops 601bhp making it an ideal solution for those who want a four-door Wraith. It’s also said to have suspension upgrades that brings the car’s handling closer to that of its two door brother.
What sets it apart from the standard Ghost is that the V-Spec edition comes with 21″ wheels from the Wraith and bespoke touches like the V-Spec rear armrest with black embroidery, treadplates, inlay to monitor member, bespoke Clock, bespoke piping and black stitching. The Sapphire Black paint job just adds to its stature.
In addition to these engine modifications, rumour has it that some suspension tweaking and upgrades have been applied to the Ghost V-Spec and that it is likely to be introduced in March at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
The Rolls-Royce Ghost V-Spec is listed at €330,820, a hefty sum that converts to roughly Rs 2.79 crore. As of now the car is expected to be sold in Germany and there is no confirmation from the company of its sale outside.
