The super luxury carmaker, Rolls-Royce, will be sending its newest product to Indian shores soon. But the Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II is running a packed schedule. Fresh from its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, its UK launch will be sometime soon, then, it will probably make its way to India by November.
The British car manufacturer had released a teaser of its facelifted saloon before its official unveiling so there are not many secrets there. The car is also available in an extended wheelbase version. The Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II combines sporty acceleration with a luxurious, comfortable ride. The “II” refers to several subtle changes in this facelifted model, including an updated gearbox with satellite-aided technology that uses GPS data to select gears based on the terrain ahead.
Noticeable improvements can be found in the form of new LED headlamps with daytime running lamps and other minor updates including restyled mirrors. The Ghost Series II features a redesigned bumper with larger air intakes, chrome accents, a resculpted hood and forged aluminum rims in two size options- 19 inches for an everyday look or 21 inches.
In terms of interiors, passengers will be able to avail of redesigned seats with electronically adjustable thigh supports and an improved dash with metal-accented instrument dials. They will also have the option of choosing leather-wrapped A and C pillars.
While we mentioned earlier that the changes to this car will be subtle, regarding the engine there is nothing new there. The Ghost Series II will be powered by the same twin-turbo 6.6-litre V12 engine producing 571bhp of power and 780Nm of torque. The short wheelbase Ghost Series II goes from 0-60kmph in 4.8seconds. The extended wheelbase model does the same with just a tenth of a second more.
Rolls-Royce decision to launch the Ghost Series II in India goes to prove what an important market we are for the car maker and that the company is looking actively to expand its portfolio here. It also recently launched the Ghost V –specification in our country. The company, however, has not mentioned any possible price for the Indian market for this model. The existing Ghost standard wheelbase model is priced at Rs 4.36 crore in India. The company will continue to sell this model.
