The worlds most well-known name in moving luxury appears to be moving with the times and has announced that it will build a crossover. Yes we are talking about none other than Rolls Royce and its recently announced plans to install the Spirit of Ecstasy on a high riding model.
The company has issued a press release in which it says that work is under way to develop a high-bodied car which will be able to cross any terrain. It will be underpinned by an all-new aluminum architecture which we believe will make its way into future RR models.
The development for this model has come in the face of demand from its customers for such a kind of vehicle. In addition to this, the company says that the owners of their vehicles in the early part of the last century used their cars for a variety of purposes and drove them over all kinds of terrain.
What can we predict about this new Rolls Royce SUV/Crossover? For starters, we believe that it will share a lot of its underpinnings with a new BMW SUV a.k.a the X7 that is currently under development. This includes the engine, gearboxes and AWD system.
The exterior design will carry the Rolls Royce famous facia and side profile up to the C-pillar and from there on is what we are expecting the British automaker to innovate in its quintessential English way. There is no timeline on when this car will be unveiled but we expect to see some concept drawings at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
