The Force Motors Gurkha Xtreme has been launched in India at Rs 12.99 lakhs (all-India ex-showroom). It’s based on Force’s award winning Gurkha 4X4X4 extreme off-road vehicle that won the Rain Forest Challenge in 2014, 2015 and 2016. We’ve done a technical deep dive into the 2015 challenger as well as looked at how it stands up against the standard Gurkha.
This Gurkha Xtreme is powered by a 2.2-litre Mercedes derived diesel that produces 140bhp/320Nm with a five-speed manual and a 4X4 system with a low range transfer case and a locking differential for both the front and rear.
Force Motors has had a long collaboration with Mercedes-Benz and this is evident in the design of the vehicle as it has picked up cues from the legendary G-wagon. There’s a new G inspired facia, bonnet mounted LED indicators, new front, and rear steel bumpers which add significantly to the style quotient of the vehicle.
The signature chrome finish air intake snorkel, muscular side cladding, clear lens headlamps, front fog lamps, large ORVMs, sturdy and full-length slip resistant footboard, and increased width all-terrain tubeless tyres are all standard for this version of the Gurkha.
Commenting on the launch of the Gurkha Xtreme, Ashutosh Khosla, president sales and marketing, Force Motors said, “The Gurkha Xtreme is being introduced in a phased manner with the first lot of vehicles being delivered to select customers who have been waiting since long for this variant. With the introduction of the Gurkha Xtreme, our portfolio of off-roading vehicles is complete with variants to take care of every segment, be it mild, moderate or extreme off-roading. The best part of the Gurkha Xtreme is that it is adaptable for competitive off-roading.”
