While we wait for it to officially arrive in the Indian market, the Renault Captur has received a new engine and gearbox option in the UK. We would like to add that this is the European-spec Captur which is based on a different platform and is more advanced than the upcoming India-spec model.
In the UK, the Captur is now available with the dCi 90 engine combined with a six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The car is priced from £20,125 (Rs 17.37 lakh) on-road in the UK.
The 1.5-litre motor apparently has been optimised for the day-to-day conditions, thanks to the use of a dual dry clutch combined with electric actuators. The transmission provides smooth, yet fast gear changes. The latter is also available with the TCe 120 engine in the Captur range.
The India-spec Captur, meanwhile, will get the familiar 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine. Although this 108bhp motor is identical to the Duster, in the Captur its more linear and refined. Renault will launch the Captur in both petrol and diesel variants. Initially it will come only with manual transmission and an automatic will follow soon.
