Last week Renault dealers had started accepting bookings for the 1.0-litre Kwid variant. Post much wait, Renault has announced that it will be launching the new Kwid 1.0-litre variant on August 22. The current model which was launched in India last year is a popular seller in the country and averages over 5,000 unit sales in a month. Along with emerging as a strong competitor against the 1.0-litre Hyundai Eon and the Alto K10 models, the new model will further strengthen its position in the Indian market.
The Renault Kwid 1.0-litre will be available only in the top-specs RXT and RXT (O) variants. The powerful Kwid variant will be offered with standard safety features such as remote keyless entry, front power windows, body coloured bumpers and passenger side ORVM, touchscreen infotainment system, 12V power socket, dual tone dashboard and front fog lamps. As for the optional variant, it will come with a driver airbag in addition to all the other standard features.
Renault dealers in the country had started accepting bookings for the new variant last week for a token amount of Rs 10,000. The new 1.0-litre engine three-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox generates about 67bhp of power and 91Nm of torque. Except for a new engine, the new model does not get any major design changes and continues with the existing dimensions. Visually, the only differentiation for the 1.0-litre variant is the new sticker job on side and the C-pillar.
The launch of Kwid 1.0-litre variant will further boost Renault's sales in the country and lure potential customers who have been eagerly waiting for a powerful Kwid variant. On the pricing aspect, we expect the top-end optional variant to be priced between Rs 4.0 lakh - 4.5 lakh.
