Renault India is slated to display the refreshed Koleos at the Auto Expo 2014. The Koleos might be available shortly after its unveiling at the Auto-Expo 2014.
When Renault introduced this compact SUV in India everyone loved it, it had a monocoque chassis, had a good ride and handling package, the engine had enough pep, but its price was on the higher side. Its pricing put it right among the larger SUVs like the Fortuner, Endeavour and also the Audi Q3 which was just a lakh dearer than the Koleos.
Renault might continue to import it through the CBU route in India as the demand is too low to make assembly feasible. The Koleos is sold in one variant and comes with a 1995cc turbo diesel motor producing 148bhp and 320Nm mated to a six-speed automatic transmission which sends power to all wheels.
The refreshed version will get a new grille, new front bumper, all-new alloy wheels, a seven-inch touch screen infotainment system, new trim colours, rear parking camera and new leather upholstery. There are rumours that the Koleos might get more power as well.
Although Renault is gung-ho about injecting a new life into the Koleos, it won't be easy to get the Indian SUV buyer excited . As reports suggest there might be a price hike, it will surely benefit the Audi Q3 as the gap would be close to less than a lakh.
