Renault India has launched the Scala sedan at a beginning price of Rs 6.99 onwards, with the top-spec diesel costing Rs 9.57 lakh. A petrol automatic is also going to be made available. The Scala offers unique styling, lots of space and efficient engines - the petrol is rated at 16.95kmpl and the diesel at 23-odd kmpl. However, Renault hopes to win customers over with the features - all the models have more equipment than the competition at the price they are being offered at.
There are currently four variants, two petrol and two diesel. The base model RxE petrol offers a driver airbag, ABS and EBD and follow-me-home headlamps but no alloy wheels. This is available for Rs 6.99 lakh. The RxL petrol offers two airbags, 15" alloy wheels, steering-mounted audio controls, climate controls, and electrically adjustable mirrors for Rs 7.85 lakh. The RxL diesel offers the exact same features list as the RxL petrol but is priced at Rs 8.69 lakh. The top-spec RxZ diesel offers, in addition to the RxL's features, leather upholstery including on the door and steering wheel, a chrome window surround and the keyless entry and go of the Nissan Micra and Sunny. The RxZ is priced at Rs 9.57 lakh.
