The Renault Lodgy will be launched tomorrow and is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh. It will be offered in two diesel engine tunings and two gearbox options. The MPV will then lock horns with its prime rival - the Toyota Innova.
The new Renault Lodgy was also showcased at the Paris Motor show. The car is massive in proportions, unlike the new compact MPVs being introduced to the Indian market these days. It will be available in both seven- and eight-seater versions. The MPV is being produced at the Renault-Nissan's facility in Oragadam, Chennai. At present, the Duster is also being manufactured there and the upcoming MPV shares this facility for its production.
The Lodgy is powered by the 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine that will be offered in two states of tune; 84bhp/200Nm and 109bhp/245Nm. The former comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and the latter is paired to a six-speed manual transmission. The ARAI fuel efficiency of the MPV is claimed to be 21.04kmpl for the 84bhp version and 19.98kmpl for the 109bhp model.
Bookings for the Renault Lodgy recently started and consumers can book the car for Rs 50,000. Apart from the Toyota Innova, it will also go up against the Chevrolet Tavera, Mahindra Xylo and the Nissan Evalia.
