Renault will launch the Lodgy MPV for the Indian market on April 9. Billed as a rival for the mighty Toyota Innova, the Lodgy will be offered with a single engine option but in two states of tune and with two gearbox options. Booking for the MPV have begun and buyers can put down Rs 50,000 to confirm their vehicle.
We have already driven the Lodgy as well as done a product comparison with the Toyota Innova and you can find links to both stories below. The feature list for the top-spec RXZ variant is quite detailed and includes a reverse camera with sensors, power windows, touch-screen infotainment system, power sockets for all three rows, and roof-mounted vents for the second and third rows as well as tumble options for both.
There will be both seven and eight-seater variants with the latter expected to have a bigger presence in the base variants while the former is expected to be the choice in the higher spec models; a similar strategy is followed by Toyota with the Innova.
On the engine front will be the omnipresent 1.5-litre K9K diesel mill that is being offered in two states of tune; 84bhp/200Nm and 109bhp/245Nm. The former is offered with a five-speed manual while the latter gets a six-speed manual. Most importantly the ARAI efficiency has been pegged at 21.04 kmpl for the 84bhp version while 19.98kmpl for the 109bhp version.
The Renault Lodgy is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh and competes with the Toyota Innova, Chevrolet Tavera and the Nissan Evalia.
