Renault India has unveiled the Lodgy Stepway variant for the Indian market. The company had revealed this same version for the first time in India, but is still due for a launch. It is a beefed up version of the Lodgy MPV on sale now and gets a few additional features.
Renault showcased the Stepway variant at the Renault Star Guild Awards show in India, which was the same model that was exhibited at the Paris Motor show. The car gets a special 'Stepway' badging on the doors, skid protectors, roof rails and sports a side body cladding. Below the chrome slat, we can now see a 'jewel-studded' grille and a sporty two-tone bumper. The manufacturer has thrown in a touch-screen infotainment system from the Duster already on sale in India. The interior also sports chrome door sill plates.
Renault India will continue to power the Stepway variant with the diesel engine and there will be no petrol model for the Indian market. This means the 1.5-litre four-cylinder K9K diesel mill will continue to be employed. This mill will come mated to a five-speed or six-speed manual gearbox.
With the introduction of this Lodgy Stepway trim, the Indian consumers will be soon given a new good looking option to choose from. It might be priced slightly above the standard Lodgy and scale up the competition with the Toyota Innova, Mahindra Xylo and Nissan Evalia.
