Bookings for the Renault Lodgy have begun and one can put down their money for the French automaker’s MPV by paying Rs 50,000. It is expected to be launched within the next two weeks and will be offered in at least six variants and confirmed two engine output options.
A report from IAB reveals that the top-spec RXZ variant will get features like reverse camera with sensors, power windows, touch-screen infotainment system, power sockets for all three rows, roof mounted vents for the second and third rows as well as tumble options for the second and third rows.
It also shows that there will be seven and eight-seater variants indicating that there will be at least two base variants across both engine outputs. On the safety and security front, features in the top-spec RXZ variant includes ABS+EBD, brake assist, central locking, rear defogger, front airbags and impact sensing auto unlock for the doors. In terms of measurements, the Lodgy is 4.4-metres long with a wheelbase of 2.81-meteres making it quite a bit more than the Toyota Innova’s 2.75-metres.
The engine is the 1.5-litre K9K diesel mill that is being offered in two states of tune; 84bhp/200Nm and 109bhp/245Nm. The former is offered with a five-speed manual while the latter gets a six-speed manual. Most importantly the ARAI efficiency has been pegged at 21.04kmpl for the 84bhp version while 109bhp version 19,98kmpl.
We believe that Renault will undercut the Toyota Innova by at least one variant to get ahead of the game. In this regard the Lodgy also competes with the Chevrolet Tavera and the Nissan Evalia.
