Post much wait, fresh reports indicate that Renault will finally be introducing the new 1.0-litre Kwid variant in India this month. The Kwid being a popular seller for the automaker in India, the addition of a new powerful version is expected to further boost its overall sales in the country.
Renault India operations country CEO and managing director Sumit Sawhney said, “The Kwid has been widely accepted in the Indian market and we are ready to enhance our offering under the model range by launching a 1.0-litre engine version this month.” Customers will soon get a chance to opt for a more powerful vehicle in the entry-level segment. Though exact power output figures are not available for now, we believe that the Renault Kwid 1.0-litre variant will put out around 67bhp of power and come mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Features like touchscreen infotainment system, ABS with EBD and dual front airbags might be offered as optional on higher variants. It is to be seen if the bigger engine version will also get an optional AMT transmission system. The new Renault Kwid is not expected to get any major design upgrades except for a new badge at the rear. Positioned in straight line of competition with the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, we can expect it to be priced around a similar range of Rs 3.25 lakh to Rs 4.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
