Renault has launched its business sedan the Fluence in India. The Fluence, which is the first of the five new products Renault plans to bring to India in the span of two years, is available in two versions - a petrol and a diesel. The petrol which comes with a 2-litre engine that makes 137bhp is priced at Rs. 14.40 lakh, ex-showroom in Delhi. The diesel which uses a more powerful but almost as efficient iteration of the 1.5-litre four cylinder unit powering the erstwhile Logan (also now known as the Mahindra Verito), is priced cheaper at Rs. 12.99 lakh, ex-showroom, delhi.
Currently only two versions of the Renault Fluence are available, but the French car maker says more variants for both petrol and diesel engined Fluence will be made available soon. The petrol Fluence which only comes with an automatic gearbox - a CVT to be precise - is the more luxurious variant and comes loaded with features like climate control system, steering mounted controls for both the stereo as well as for cruise control. It also gets keyless entry and start besides a modern and comfortable interior, which with its biege finish adds a good dose of upmarket feel to it as well. The diesel meanwhile is available with a manual gearbox and black interiors. The idea behind this move, says Renault, is that the diesel version will also be self driven and will therefore appeal to owners looking for a sportier drive. The Renault Fluence will compete against the segment leader Corolla Altis, which incidently will also be getting a minor facelift and a new CVT gearbox.
