Renault India has launched the Duster AWD in India for Rs 11.89 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi). It is available in two variants while the only engine option is the 110PS diesel engine. The AWD variant also gets new body graphics, new colour options and a revised interior.
The Duster AWD is being offered in two variants-RXZ and RXL. There are two new colour options -white and in addition there are also new external graphics and different coloured alloy wheels. Inside, both variants get revised upholstery and a new instrument cluster as well as a touch-screen infotainment system.
However, where the Duster AWD comes alive are the mechanicals. It gets a torque on demand system which can be used to send power on the fly either to the front wheels or to all four wheels via a knob in the centre console. Renault has also said that it has updated the electrical system as well the engine bay architecture.
It is powered by the 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine that produces 108bhp, 248Nm of torque and mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. ARAI fuel efficiency has been specified at 19.72kmpl. On the safety front, the Duster AWD gets two airbags, ABS with EBD, ASR and first in class independent multi-link rear suspension.
In this price range, the Duster competes with certain variants of the Mahindra XUV500, Tata Safari Storme as well as the soon to be launched facelifted Mahindra Scorpio.
