Renault Kwid: Why should you buy?

Renault introduced the updated Kwid in the Indian market earlier this week at a starting price of Rs 2.83 lakhs (ex-showroom). The newly launched hatchback from Renault is available in eight variants and two engine options – 0.8-litres and 1.0-litre. Read below to find out more about why should you buy the new Renault Kwid.   

What’s good about it?

Renault Kwid has always distinguished itself in its segment with an SUV-inspired design. This time around the new Kwid has further raised the bar in terms of styling with wheel arch claddings, side decals, new R14 volcano grey muscular multi-spoke wheels and a high ground clearance of 184mm. Renault offers an AMT option in the bigger 1.0-litre. The vehicle gets a first-in-class LED digital instrument cluster, a floor console-mounted AMT dial and a 20.32cm Touchscreen MediaNAV Evolution with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, video playback, and voice recognition. 

What’s not so good?

The updated Renault Kwid offers a passenger airbag only in the 1.0-litre RXT and Climber variants. Moreover, these two variants are the only ones to get rear power windows. 

Best variant to buy?

The 1.0-litre RXT variant is a good option and it is available in both manual and AMT options. The variant offers an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and voice recognition. The AMT version gets the Traffic assistance mode. Moreover, the variant offers a steering wheel with chrome inserts and red-stitched leather wrap, 12V power socket at rear and more. Customers who are keen on a fancier version with sporty highlights, the Climber is a good option as it offers roof rails with orange inserts, headlamp protector with orange accents, contrast orange coloured ORVMs and more.
