- Kwid Electric to be first introduced in China
- To be manufactured by e-GT New Energy Automotive Co, a joint venture between the Dongfeng Motor Group and Nissan
- Driving range of about 250kms
The electric version of the Kwid has been spotted on test internationally. The electric version will be first introduced in China and appears to share a resemblance with the massive grille and light clusters from the K-ZE Concept which was showcased at the Paris Motor Show. The China-bound model will be locally manufactured by the e-GT New Energy Automotive Co, which is the joint venture between the Dongfeng Motor Group and Nissan.
The company has not revealed technical details for the electric version yet, except for the fact that it will have a driving range of 250kms on a single change. The vehicle will have a dual charging system that can be charged via commercial electric chargers as well as regular home-based plug points. Renault Kwid EV is unlikely to be launched anytime soon in India, however, the company had earlier revealed its plans to introduce at least one electric vehicle in the country by 2022.
More details on the Kwid EV will be known in 2019 post its official unveiling in China.
