Renault has started delivering the Kwid hatchback through its dealerships in the metro cities. The deliveries in the Tier II cities are expected to commence next week around Dussehra; also the dealer sources confirm that the car now calls for a waiting period that extends till January.
Renault has confirmed that the entry-level hatchback has received close to 25,000 bookings within the first two weeks of the launch. The deliveries didn’t start on the day of the launch and that has led to a substantial waiting list. All the bigger dealerships of the French manufacturer have around 1,000 to 1,500 bookings.
The company is expected to be a little conservative with the production for the first couple of months. If the bookings continue to pile on after the initial excitement has subsided, Renault should increase the production at the facility in Chennai.
