Renault has sold the 1,30,000th Kwid in a short span, achieving yet another landmark since the car's launch. The carmaker had achieved the milestone of selling one lakh Kwids in Nov 2016.
The Renault Kwid is a small entry-level hatchback that had received 25,000 bookings within a week of its launch. The car's demand sky rocketed due to its good looks, new features and affordable pricing. And despite the high demand, the manufacturer made necessary requirements to not prolong the waiting periods.
At present, Renault India offers the Kwid in two main variants - an 800cc and a 1.0-litre petrol engine. Both engine options are mated to a five-speed manual transmission. However, the 1.0-litre engine can be had with an optional AMT gearbox.
The Renault Kwid can firmly be called as the game-changer for the French carmaker knowing how the entry-level hatchback has helped the company post good sales numbers. It has been able to create the buzz that none of their other products could do. And apart from it being a good product, it is Renault's aggressive marketing strategy and preparedness that has also helped the huge success. Then the necessary traction required for the sales to pick up was also supported by the company’s aggressive dealership network expansion.
