While Renault is busy releasing teasers of the upcoming Koleos successor, the pictures of the car have already surfaced on a Chinese forum. The vehicle will be officially unveiled at the Beijing Motor show next week.
The leaked pictures clearly show off the revisions to the new Koleos, which borrows traits from the Talisman series. The chrome grille extends towards the headlamps with DRLs, while the rear boasts of new wraparound tail lamps with LED units. The high ground clearance complements the butch stance of the SUV. The interior has not been revealed yet, but it would interesting to see if Renault introduces a new digital instrument cluster and the big portrait-style touchscreen paired with the R-Link 2 infotainment system.
The much-awaited Koleos replacement shares its underpinnings with the Nissan X-Trail. It rides on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s Common Module Family (CMF) platform and will be bigger than the X-Trail. Both the cars have the same 2,705mm wheelbase, but the Koleos is longer at 4,672mm than the X-Trail, which has a length of 4,641mm. As against the X-Trail, which is 1,820mm wide, the new Koleos will be wider at 1,843mm.
The Chinese-spec Koleos is expected to be offered in two petrol trims and in both - FWD and AWD trims. One petrol version will be powered by a 150bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder mill, while the other will be a 186bhp 2.5-litre motor. The transmission options include a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Renault has just began the teaser campaign for the Koleos and more information will be revealed soon officially. The complete vehicle will anyway be fully unveiled at the impending 2016 Beijing Auto Show.
