After making its public debut earlier this year in Geneva, the Renault Kadjar has made its Chinese debut at the Auto Shanghai 2015. Based on the Nissan Qashqai platform, the Kadjar will be positioned above the Renault Captur in the international markets.
The Kadjar is a C-segment crossover that draws from the cues associated with SUVs, sedans and even estates. Renault says it shares the DNA of the Captur concept car, along with hints of the DeZir concept. It measures 4.45 metres in length, 1.84 metres in width and 1.6 metres in height, making it larger than the Qashqai, the vehicle is it based on.
In terms of engine range globally, the Kadjar is expected to feature a 108bhp 1.5-litre and a more powerful 128bhp 1.6-litre diesel engine, while the petrol range will be complemented with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol producing nearly 128bhp of power.
If Renault India ever decides to bring the Kadjar to India, it will have to find a spot between the Duster and the Koleos and by doing that it will eventually find itself competing against the Skoda Yeti – a crossover which currently has no competition.
