Renault India themselves confirmed an early 2015 launch for the upcoming Lodgy MPV and latest reports reveal that the vehicle will be launched in April this year. According to the reports, the car will be offered in two diesel engine options and based on the trims, one will produce 84bhp of power and the other will output 109bhp.
Renault India had released an image of the vehicle earlier, but never showcased it until recently, at the Renault Star Guild Awards show. The car was also showcased at the Paris Motor show. The Lodgy MPV that was exhibited at the show is the Stepway variant and sports special 'Stepway' badging on the doors. It comes with skid protectors and sports a side body cladding. The India-spec model is expected to get a chrome embellished grille and coming to the features, the manufacturer might throw in a touch-screen infotainment system as seen in the Duster.
Coming to the powertrain, the Logdy will be powered by the 1.5-litre four-cylinder K9K diesel engine that will churn out 84bhp or 109bhp of power depending on the variant. The engine will come paired to a five-speed or six-speed manual transmission.
The new Renault Lodgy will be produced at the Renault-Nissan's facility in Oragadam, Chennai. At present, the Duster is being manufactured there and we can expect the upcoming MPV to share this facility for its production. The base variant of the Lodgy might be priced at Rs 10 lakh, and the top-end might go up to Rs 15 lakh. The car will rival the Toyota Innova, Mahindra Xylo and the Nissan Evalia in the Indian car market.
