Renault India's overall sales figures including exports last month stood at 11,244 units as compared to 10,292 units in December 2015 resulting in a growth of 9.2 per cent.
But what's more interesting is that the carmaker has registered a cumulative growth of 146 per cent in terms of year-on-year sales. They sold 1, 32,235 cars in the calendar year 2016 as compared to the 53,847 units in the preceding year.
Commenting on the numbers, Sumit Sawhney, CEO and Managing Director said, "India is a priority market for Groupe Renault and plays an important role in Renault’s international growth. In a short span of time, Renault has grown its presence exponentially, becoming one of the youngest and fastest growing automotive brands and the number one European brand in India. We are on track with a 4.5 percent market share at the end of 2016 achieving a robust three-digit growth over 2015,” he said.
“Our focus for 2017 will be to continue and build on our growth journey, reflecting our long-term commitment to the Indian market. We plan to launch at least one new product every year, over the next five years, beginning with some exciting product innovations starting this year,” he added.
Renault’s number has seen an upward trend due to the stable numbers from their current range. Though this growth might not seem quite a lot, it is important for the manufacturer since these sales numbers are steadily increasing. Ever since the introduction of the Kwid, Renault sales surged and then the facelifted Duster further helped the sales figures to reach a new high.
