Renault India sold 6790 units in October 2012 –highest ever since their entry into the Indian market. The last month’s figures show that Renault has overtaken more established car brands like Volkswagen, Skoda, Honda and even their global partner Nissan.
The sole reason for Renault upturn is their compact SUV, the Duster. The French car maker sold 5406 units of the Duster last month, while the sales numbers for rest of the range are, Scala – 737 units, Pulse – 483 units, Fluence – 107 units and Koleos – 56 units.
Renault will hope to capitalize on the success of the Duster improve sales of the rest of the range. The Duster still has no direct competitor in the compact SUV segment; the first real competition for the car will come early next year from the Ford EcoSport.
