Renault India has officially started accepting bookings for the Kwid hatchback. The all-new entry-level hatchback from Renault will be launched soon to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and the Hyundai Eon.
While the dealerships have been unofficially accepting bookings for a while, the company is now officially accepting orders at all the showrooms across the country. The French carmaker has also launched two communication tools – Renault Kwid App and Renault Virtual Showroom to market the new car.
The Kwid is the first Renault-Nissan car in India to be built on the new CMF-A platform. The hatchback uses crossover styling to compete in the entry-level segment with a 800cc engine producing 53bhp and 72Nm of torque. The virtues of the car include a segment first touch-screen music system with navigation and the largest boot in the segment at 300 litres.
The company is betting big on the success of the new model and to keep up with the demand, will be expanding the sales and service network to 205 by the end of this year. Our dealership sources confirm that the Kwid has managed to get over 5,000 bookings in the last couple of weeks.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sumit Sawhney, Country CEO and Managing Director, Renault India Operations said “Renault KWID, Renault’s Global Compact Hatchback for conquest will be first launched in India and thereby reflects the importance of India in Renault’s global expansion plans. One of the most important parameters in this segment is fuel efficiency and Renault KWID is a clear winner in this regard. Together with this, Renault KWID boasts of several class leading and segment-first features. Renault KWID is also launching with game-changer communication tools, which is led by the Renault KWID App and the Renault Virtual Showroom.”
