Renault India has announced that it has the prices of three of its vehicles by 1 per cent with effect from July 1. This list comprises the Duster crossover, Scala sedan and the Pulse hatchback.
The French automaker has attributed the rise in prices of these three vehicles to swelling input costs. However it has not included the Koleos SUV and Fluence sedan in the price hike but we expect them to join the list eventually.
The hike by Renault comes as surprise due to the fact that the Central Government announced just a week ago that it would continue the Excise Duty Cut for another six months. We expect that this hike may set a trend for other manufacturers to follow suit.
