Backed by the huge sales of the entry-level Kwid hatchback, Renault India has managed to record their highest ever monthly sales last month. The company has registered a growth of 227 per cent over last year's figures.
The manufacturer has sold 86,835 vehicles in the period from January to August this year. The same time last year, the carmaker had sold 26,559 units. Apart from this cumulative sales figure, Renault sold 12,972 units in August 2016 as compared to 1,527 units sold last year. This is an over eight-fold jump in the car sales performance.
Thanks to the huge sales numbers of the Renault Kwid, the carmaker has registered this landmark sales performance. The French car manufacturer had sold more than 80,000 Kwids in 11 months and now will soon cross the one lakh sales mark. The Kwid was an instant hit amongst Indian buyers owing to its SUVish design and segment-first features. Its demand kept on increasing due to its aggressive and affordable pricing. Also, the carmaker's localisation drive helped the carmaker put up an aggressive and affordable price tag for the car.
In fact, the Kwid has recently been introduced with a 1.0-litre engine in addition to the 800cc variant. Then the carmaker also added a World Edition Lodgy to their line-up. All this combined with the sales of the facelifted Duster, Renault India has achieved a 4.5 per cent share in the Indian market. The good sales performance is backed up by 221 dealerships across India and will reach 270 units by end of this year.
