Renault India has announced that it will hike the price of all the vehicles by up to 1.5 per cent with effect from the first of January 2013. The French automaker has attributed the hike to rising input costs and joins a whole host of manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Audi and its own alliance partner Nissan in hiking its prices for similar reasons.
Commenting on the price increase Sumit Sawhney, executive director, sales and marketing said “we have to follow suit with the rest of the industry as input costs have gone up tremendously. We tried to absorb the increase as much as possible but now we are forced to pass on some of the burden to our customers as high input cost coupled with high inflation are all eating in to our bottom line. But at the same time we have tried our best to keep it at a level where it should not impact demand and we are sure that customers would still see a lot of value in our products.”
Renault currently sells the Pulse hatchback, Scala sedan, the popular SUV – Duster, premium sedan – Fluence and the top- of-the-line SUV Koleos.
